(Courtesy Portland Trail Blazers) Preseason game in Veterans Memorial Coliseum kicks off 50th anniversary celebration Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum will once again fill with all things Trail Blazers as the NBA franchise moves into the venue across the plaza from its Moda Center home to kick off its preseason schedule on Oct. 8, the first step in a seasonlong celebration of the team’s 50th anniversary.  The Blazers, which started play in Memorial Coliseum and used it as home until 1995, winning the team’s lone NBA championship in the building in 1977, will make the first return to the building in a decade.
