The Country Music Association Awards kicked off awards-show season in style at Bridgestone Arena, in Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 5. The nearly 8,000 attendees enjoyed performances by Little Big Town with Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, and Blake Shelton with Ashley Monroe. The CMA-promoted event was broadcast live on ABC and grossed $2.1 million with tickets ranging from $115 and $550. Two weeks later the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, Los Angeles brought the American Music Awards to California with 6,253 in attendance. The Dick Clark-promoted event grossed more than $1.3 million on Nov. 23. The awards shows will power through January and February with events nearly every weekend. Some big-ticket shows include the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., the Screen Actors Guild on Jan. 25 at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, the BAFTA Awards on Feb. 8 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, the Grammy Awards on Feb. 8 at Staples Center, Los Angeles, and the Academy Awards at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry continues to play sold-out shows at arenas all over Australia. The pop star grossed just over $8 million playing four back-to-back nights in Sydney at Allphones Arena Nov. 21-25. Nearly 63,000 fans paid between $34 and $169 for tickets to Perry’s Prismatic Tour. The incredible demand for Perry’s tour compelled the singer to add five shows to her original tour, and as of yesterday Perry announced that she has added three extra shows for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.  Tickets are on sale now, but if her history is any indication, they won’t be around for long. Catch Katy Perry Dec. 4-10 with four shows at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne. And just in case four shows aren’t enough, she will return to Allphones Arena, Sydney, Dec. 12-13. The pop star will wrap up her Australian leg of the tour at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
