Original Reporting From Inside the Sports & Entertainment Business
Bringing the "News Behind the Headlines" to your fingertips
VenuesNow is the leading source of original reporting for live entertainment and events, serving management, owners and suppliers to music, sports and meetings venues internationally.
Founded in 2002 to provide leaders in this high profile business with the information behind the headlines - the who, what, where and how-it-really-happened news you need to run a successful business – VenuesNow, formerly Venues Today has continued to grow in sources and services.
The original monthly magazine, Venues Today, debuted in July 2002, published by Linda Deckard, who spent more than 30 years covering the entertainment business for Amusement Business, now defunct, before founding Venues Today. It was and is aimed at providing useful information for managers, owners, operators and bookers of arenas, amphitheaters, stadiums, performing arts centers, convention centers, fairgrounds and equestrian centers.
VT Pulse was also launched in 2002. VT Pulse is our e-newsletter, bringing the timely news and information about bookings, crisis management, new construction, renovation, marketing, food and drink, management changes and trends to our subscribers on a weekly basis.
And it’s all captured and archived here at venuestoday.com, which brings daily updates and access to our in-depth reporting 24/7.
In 2007, we published our first Fairs & Festivals Resource Guide, an annual directory and database that lists dates and statistics about fairs and festivals in North America. In 2009, we debuted our International Venue Resource Guide, which lists venues of all types around the world, including contacts, sizes, stakeholders and more. Like our magazine and our VT Pulse, it is sourced in-house, from our offices in California.
Our archives include Hot Tickets and Top Stops, chronicling the box office grosses and attendance for tours and events worldwide, pinpointing individual performance and overall trends.
In 2008, we joined the University of South Carolina, Columbia, for the Sport Entertainment and Venues Tomorrow (SEVT) annual conference. Held each in November, this "Conference Like No Other" brings together industry professionals, professors of sports and entertainment, and students of the industry from around the globe for a day of panels and research presentations.
We have also given back in other ways, honoring the best of the best in the venue business, introducing our Hall of Headlines Awards to wrap the year with the best advances or biggest moves in news, bookings, marketing and concessions. Next, we offered up our Venues Today Women of Influence Awards, annually honoring the women who have made a difference in this male-dominated industry.
Box Office Stars in an annual award presented by Venues Today at INTIX (International Ticketing Association), honoring those who have made their marks in the volatile and critical area of ticketing. And to recognize the impact environmental awareness has made on all our lives, we present the Stewards of Sustainability Awards each August, detailing who, what and where it’s getting greener in the venue business.
In 2011, an exciting, forward looking award was launched – Venues Today Generation Next Awards – honoring professionals aged 35 or younger who have already impacted the industry…and will for years to come.
Our mission is to share news and how-to information to practitioners of all sectors of the live sports, entertainment and meetings industry, from managers and promoters to operations personnel and suppliers, helping them build the pool of knowledge and the relationships necessary to be successful in this business.
Our guarantee is to do it with original reporting. If we quote you, we called you.
